Fireside is still a fragile operation and we have to prioritize the tasks that are most urgent and directly related to the day-to-day operations of the store. Donations don’t fall into that category.
So, is there a way you can still get a donation from us? Maybe :) You can fill out this form, which standardizes this process for us.
Some caveats to the form:
- We are only accepting requests from Redwood City, North Fair Oaks, Portola Valley, and Woodside.
- If we receive more than one request for the same occasion, we will de-prioritize that request.
- We will donate to the same organization no more than twice in one year.
- We have a specific amount of money set aside for donations. When that money is gone, we will close the form.
- If you have not heard back about your request in two weeks, assume we are not able to fulfill it.
If you are interested in some tips to consider for your local small businesses during donation request season:
- Don’t just ask the little guy - big companies in our area should also do their part
- Coordinate your efforts. It can be really difficult when we get 4 or 5 requests from the same school
- Instead of asking for a donation, consider if there is someone in your community who would buy something from a local business to donate
- As a general rule, it’s frowned upon to ask for a donation the first time you enter a business
- Be thoughtful about who you ask and when. It’s pretty insensitive to ask a business that’s been open less than a year for money. They may not even know if they can cover their rent yet
